Shin Splint
Pain caused by overuse of muscle along the shinbone, the large front bone in the lower leg.
Shin splints result when muscles, tendons and bone tissue become overworked. Shin splints often occur in athletes who've recently intensified or changed their training routines.
Usually self-treatable
Usually self-diagnosable
Lab tests or imaging not required
Short-term: resolves within days to weeks
Treatment includes rest, ice and Physiotherapy.
